Day 3-Grand Lake and mooooose

We decided Saturday was a good day to head up Trail Ridge and see what the other side of the park had to offer.  The other side being Grand Lake.  We knew there were moose on the other side of Trail Ridge, but didn't know if it would be one of those hit or miss animals like Big Horn Sheep are in Estes Park.
To prefice the drive up Trail Ridge, it's a 3,000 odd foot climb, with many winding roads, switchbacks, and the likes.  The road is typically only open in the summer season as the remainder of the time, snow as tall as a semi-truck can blanket the area.  As we made our climb, we saw way too many crazy bike riders moving along with us, even braving the high winds.  Crazy people!  As we descended over to the other side, we couldn't help but notice a swarm of cars pulled off to the side of the road.  Could it be, we asked each other?  Why yes, it could be moose!  Two, in fact.  After some picture taking we got back on the road only to stop yet again a few miles down the road.  Ted captured some great shots of the female moose trotting along.
By the time we made it to town, we fitted Aspen for the backpack and off we went walking around town.
 Hey there moosey.
Ma, I saw my first moose EVER!

 La de da.
 LA DE DA!
 Run moosey run!

Look Ma, it's my first time in the back pack!
Me and Da are gonna make a good team today!

After window shopping and lunch, it was time to hit the road in search of more moose and to hike some short trails.  We had our eyes set on Coyote Trail, but first, we felt we needed to see more moose.  And more, we did. This time, four!
We were quite close to this group of 3!
Loving our hike!
All in all, we had an adventurous day and know we will soon returning to the "other side". Next time, maybe we will even bring our fishing poles!
